What do Reach, RoHS and SGS mean

Reach regulation is the abbreviation of EU regulation regulation concerning the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemicals. It is a chemical supervision system established by the EU and implemented on June 1, 2007.

RoHS directive is a mandatory standard formulated by EU legislation. Its full name is the restriction of hazardous substances. The standard has been officially implemented since July 1, 2006. It is mainly used to standardize the material and process standards of electronic and electrical products, so as to make it more conducive to human health and environmental protection. The purpose of this standard is to eliminate lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers in electrical and electronic products (Note: the correct Chinese name of PBDE refers to polybrominated diphenyl ethers, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers are wrong), and focuses on the requirement that the content of cadmium should not exceed 0.01%.

SGS is a comprehensive inspection organization, which can conduct various physical, chemical and metallurgical analysis, including destructive and non-destructive tests, provide a complete set of quantitative and quality inspection and relevant technical services to the client, provide pre shipment inspection services, and provide various services related to international trade, such as commodity technology, transportation, storage and so on, Supervise all or any part of the commercial trade and operation process related to purchase and sale, trade, raw materials, industrial equipment and consumer goods migration. Within SGS, according to commodity classification, agricultural service department, mineral, chemical and metallurgical service department, non-destructive test department, national government contract service department, transportation and warehouse department, industrial engineering product service department, risk and insurance service department and other departments have been established.

RoHS and reach, as common test items of SGS testing, are EU regulations. ROHS testing contents include lead (PB), cadmium (CD), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr6 +), polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), diisobutyl phthalate (DiBP), 2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), butyl phthalate (BBP) and dibutyl phthalate (DBP). Reach currently tests 173 substances of high concern SVHC.
