Sunmate - use and selection of diodes — SUNMATE

Use and selection of diodes

1. Appropriate models shall be selected according to different application occasions. Ordinary diodes are suitable for high frequency detection, frequency discrimination, amplitude limiting and small current rectification; Rectifier diodes are suitable for low-frequency rectification of different powers; Switching diodes are suitable for electronic computers, pulse control, switching circuits, etc.

2. When selecting diodes, it is required that the reverse peak voltage and forward current borne by the diodes shall not exceed the rated value. For the circuit with inductive elements, the reverse rated peak voltage should be more than 2 times larger than the line working voltage to prevent breakdown.

3. When replacing diodes, the maximum reverse voltage must not be lower than the maximum reverse voltage of the original diodes, and the maximum rectified current should not be lower than the maximum rectified value of the original diodes.

4. When replacing the high-frequency diode, its maximum working frequency shall not be lower than the maximum working frequency of the original diode.

5. The power rectifier diode must be equipped with heat sink or cooling device to prevent overheating and burning.

6. In the actual circuit, many diodes can be replaced, which should be determined according to the role of diodes in the circuit.

7. When welding low-power diodes, the welding shall be rapid, generally no more than 5S. The power of electric soldering iron is generally below 35W. The bending of pin lead usually needs to be more than 5mm away from the tube shell.

8. Protection measures shall be taken for series and parallel connection of diodes in rectifier circuit.
